"How much does it cost?" This is the question that every practitioner asks himself — and curiously, it is the one to which almost no manufacturer answers publicly. At home EVO-LIGHT, our prices are displayed on each product sheet. In this guide, we go further: here are the Real market price bands for each type of dental lighting, which explains the variances, and how to size your budget according to your project.
Overview: the 5 market price levels
Standard LED slab (large surface) — 30 à 300 €
Professional LED dental panel — 500 à 1 800 €
Ceiling / Premium architectural suspension — 2 000 à 6 000 €
Luminaire with Smart TV Integrated — 4 600 à 9 000 €
Custom creation — from € 8 000
Level 1 — Standard LED slab (30 to 300 €): false good idea
The 60×60 LED tiles of large DIY surface come down below 50 €. Why don't you put four on the ceiling and move on?
- CRI 80 at best — insufficient for the diagnosis of the tissues and the tinting (must be ≥ 90, ideally ≥ 95); see our article on CRI in dental practice)
- Uncontrollable glare (UGR often > 22) — visual fatigue guaranteed at the end of the day
- Scintillating (flicker) frequent on entry-level drivers
- Visual rendering : your firm looks like an open administrative space
The standard slab can be attached to a technical room or a reserve. In the clinical area or in the patient area, this is a false calculation: the apparent economy is paid in comfort, image and visual fatigue.
Level 2 — Professional dental LED panel (500 to 1,800 €)
Designed for the medical community, these panels offer an CRI ≥95, calibrated illumination and anti-glare treatment. This is the first level really suitable for a treatment room.
At home EVO-LIGHT, this category corresponds to our standard extra-fine ceilinglers EVO Slim (from €1,200) and our acoustic lighting panels type EVO Acoustic (from 1 000 €). The right choice to equip a sterilization, an office or complete the lighting of a care room.
Level 3 — The ceiling or architectural suspension (€2,000 to €6,000)
This is the heart of the premium market: luminaires designed to deliver 750 to 1,000 lux on the work plane (the levels recommended by the EN 12464-1 standard), with CRI ≥ 95, direct/indirect lighting, and a real design bias: rings, discs, ovals, custom-made formats.
This makes the price within this range vary:
- Size — a 150 cm ring costs more than an 80 cm disc
- Double issue (direct + indirect) — more components, better comfort
- Integrated acoustics — absorbent felt panels add 15 to 30 %
- Pilotage — change in intensity and temperature, remote control, DALI
Home: Moon EVO from 1 500 €, EVO Ring 3 500 €.
Level 4 — The luminaire with Smart TV integrated (4 600 to 9 000 €)
The rising category: a screen embedded in the ceiling in the patient's vision axis, to divert attention during care (the effect on anxiety is detailed in our dedicated article).
In this segment, some market solutions exceed the €8,000 excluding installation, installation billed around 1000 € extra. The range EVO Media starts at 4 600 € (screen 32", circular or square luminaire) — precisely because we believe that this technology should not be reserved for exceptional practices.
Two options vary the price within this level:
- The size of the screen — from 32 to 43 inches represents about € 1 000 of the difference (our Square 60 Ultra in 43" is €5,800, compared to €4,900 in 32"). 43" is justified in the deep rooms where the screen is further away from the patient's eyes. At the top of the range, theEVO Media 60 Ultra combines large ring Ø150 cm and screen 43" UHD 4K from 6,400 €.
- Personalization — specific finishes, dimensions adapted to your ceiling, acoustic integration: costed to the project on the estimate, never imposed.
To weigh the pros and cons of the built-in screen itself, read our honest guide: benefits, limits and prices.
Level 5 — Customised (from € 8 000)
Off-standard formats, complete architectural integration, specific curves, scenographic RGB for high-end clinics: the Customised the project. Our Frame Curve (€8,000) gives an order of idea of the point of entry.
Don't forget: installation cost
- Single projection ceiling : 150 to 400 € per luminaire (local electrician, 1-2 hours)
- Suspension with ceiling cover : 300 à 800 €
- TV luminaire (HDMI/network cabling) : 500 à 1 000 €
All of our luminaires are supplied with detailed installation documentation for a standard electrician — installation by our partners remains optional. Consider asking if the prices advertised by a manufacturer include the installation: it is a classic source of bad surprise.
The transport is also true : an architectural luminaire of large dimension travel in reinforced packaging, sometimes on pallet. According to the manufacturer, the delivery is included, flat rate or invoiced on the actual basis — at home, it is encrypted black on white on the estimate, for France as well as for the rest of Europe. A "call price" that omits transportation and poses can hide 10 to 15% more costs.
Standard budget per project
Practice 1 armchair (care room only) — 2 500 à 6 000 €
Practice 2-3 armchairs + reception + waiting — 8 000 à 20 000 €
Complete clinic (4 armchairs and +, architectural project) — 20 000 à 50 000 €
To be considered: lighting generally represents less than 3 % of the budget for a complete practice development, for an element that the practitioner undergoes or appreciates 8 hours a day for 15 to 25 years. Few items have such a favourable impact/cost ratio.
The real calculation: total cost over the lifetime
A professional LED luminaire lasts more than 50,000 hours, or about 25 years of practice use. Over this period:
- LED consumption reduces the lighting bill by 60-80% compared to fluorescent tubes (detail in our article energy saving)
- Zero tube or ballast replacement (count 80 to 150 € per avoided intervention)
- Our lights are guaranteed 5 years
Returned to the month, a premium ceiling of €5,000 goes back to about 17 € per month over 25 years — excluding energy saving. This is the price of a telephone subscription for the element that defines the atmosphere of your firm.
When a cheaper model is enough (yes, it happens)
An honest manufacturer will tell you: not everyone needs the top of the range. Specifically:
- Sterilization, office, technical premises — a standard professional ceiling EVO Slim (1,200 €) does the job perfectly; an architectural luminaire would bring nothing to it
- Short-term care only (consultations, controls) — the built-in screen will hardly serve: a suspension without a standard screen Moon EVO (EUR 1 500) or EVO Ring (3 500 €) is the right investment
- Waiting room — the stakes are the atmosphere, not performance: warm indirect lighting is enough, useless to overinvest
- Close budget in practice creation — better an excellent luminaire in the treatment room and simple solutions elsewhere, than the average range everywhere
Conversely, the treatment room where you spend 8 hours a day is the wrong place to save: CRI, dazzling and homogeneity pay cash in comfort.
Questions to ask before buying
- What is theReal CRI (and R9) — not just "light of day"?
- What lux illumination on the worktop, at your height under ceiling?
- L'installation Is it included, as an option, or at your expense?
- What Guarantee — and on which components (LED, driver, screen)?
- One Illumination study Is your plan proposed before the purchase?
In summary
The price of an LED ceiling lamp for dental practice ranges from 30 € (standard, to be reserved for technical premises) to more than 8 000 € (to be tailored to architectural requirements). The heart of the premium market — a standard, comfortable and design care room luminaire — is located between €3,000 and €6,000, and luminaires with Smart TV integrated start at home to 4 600 €. The best starting point is not a price but a plan: send us the one of your firm, theIllumination study is included in any project.
