One TV on the ceiling of the dental office, in the vision axis of the elongated patient: the idea seduces more and more practitioners, and for cause — during a long time of care, a patient watching a film forgets the instruments. But between the ceiling screen, the all-in-one TV ceilinger and second-hand solutions, the offer has become difficult to read. Here is the complete guide: solutions, real prices, installation and traps.
Why put a screen on the ceiling?
The principle is simple: the patient is elongated, his natural gaze points towards the ceiling. A screen placed there — and not on the wall — occupies its visual field throughout the duration of the treatment. The effects observed daily: decreased anxiety, long-term care better lived, more cooperative children in Pedodontics, and a practice the patients talk about around them. The 3 market solutions
1. TV fixed to the ceiling (arm or support)
A standard TV mounted on a ceiling holder. This is the cheapest solution to purchase (a few hundred euros + pose), but it combines the compromises: the screen is not designed to be looked at elongated (reflections, angle), the support and the cables remain visible, and above all it does not regulate lighting — luminaires must always be installed next door, with a ceiling that takes care of the equipment which is not covered.
2. The all-in-one TV ceiling (screen + main lighting)
Only one object on the ceiling: one main care room luminaire with integrated screen in its center, positioned for the chair from the design. The lighting has an CRI ≥ 90; the illumination level is defined according to the configuration of the room, the 32-inch or 43-inch screen is in the exact axis of the look, the wiring is invisible, and the installation is done in one intervention. This is the category we manufacture with the range EVO Media.
3. The occasion (Zenium, reconditioned materials...)
Used TV ceilingers run around 2,500 to 3,000 €. Three-point vigilance: the state of the screen (a component that ages the fastest), the real guarantee, and the compatibility of the lighting with current recommendations (CRI, glare). A 10-year-old material can illuminate "yellow" next to a modern scialytic.
What screen: 32 or 43 inches?
- 32 inches (80 cm) — the standard: perfectly legible at 1.50-2 m distance eye-ceiling, fits into a Ø60 cm luminaire. This is the format of our EVO Media 60, Square 60 and Oval Media 90.
- 43 inches — for high ceiling or deep rooms, where the screen is further from the eyes: EVO Media Square 60 Ultra (square, 5 800 €) or our EVO Media 60 Ultra (large ring Ø150 cm, UHD 4K, €6,400).
Real prices (2026)
Standard TV + ceiling support — 300 to 800 € (excluding lighting, excluding installation)
Used TV ceiling lamp — €2,500 to €3,000 (statement and guarantee to be checked)
EVO Media New TV Ceiling — 4 600 à 6 400 € according to format and screen
Competitive premium solutions — often 6 800 to 8 800 €
Our market position is assumed: the range EVO Media starts at €4,600 (oval, screen 32") because we believe that the ceiling screen should not be reserved for exceptional practices. Full details of the rates in our guide benefits, limits and prices.
Installation, concretely
- Technical ceiling (60×60 straps) : the ideal case — fastenings anchored to the carrying slab through the plenum, wiring (power supply + network) invisible. Our installation guide details the method.
- Placo or concrete ceiling : perfectly feasible, reinforced or ankles adapted according to the support.
- Who's laying? Your local electrician (included assembly documentation) or our optional installation.
- The Critical Point : freeze the seat's layout BEFORE pose — the screen is centered on the patient's eyes, not on the middle of the room.
Traps to avoid
- Buy the screen without thinking about lighting — the ceiling of a healthcare room must first light up correctly (standard EN 12464-1). A screen that deprives the room of its main luminaire is a bad exchange.
- Underestimating the reflection of the scialytic on the floor of the screen — TV ceiling lights designed for dental use deal with this point, a standard TV no.
- Forget the sound — provide the audio solution (patient, discreet speaker) according to usage.
- Neglect maintenance — the screen must be replaceable without changing the luminaire (this is the case in the EVO Media range).
In summary
To equip a practice with a ceiling-mounted TV screen, the real question is not “which TV?” but “how can my ceiling light the room perfectly and relax my patient at the same time?” The cleanest answer is the all-in-one TV ceiling light: a standards-compliant main luminaire with a screen integrated and aligned with the dental chair — between €4,600 and €6,400 excl. VAT from EVO-LIGHT. Developed by EVO-LIGHT, with preparation and after-sales service in France; 5-year warranty on the lighting and 2 years on the screen. Send us your room dimensions and a photo: we confirm feasibility and the right screen size before any quotation.
